Info for the rider/driver
An INCOMPARABLE adventure over 3 days, navigating through UNTOUCHED TERRAIN, AMONG GIANT RIVERS, GIANT TREES AND HUGE HERDS OF GAME.
In an ambitious new trek of man (women) and machine, every rider and driver will face the challenge of having to roam large distances. Covering more than 1 000km in fact! Twisting and turning along jeep trails and to the heritage site, Soloman’s Wall.
We will cover on average 250km per day in order to end deep within the Tuli Block.
We have an amazing project for the development of rally riders, if you’re keen on securing P25 000 towards your next rally entry fee, then check out our GO RALLY Powered by TswanaFuels project.
Opening and Closing Ceremony
The opening of Giants will be held in Gaborone on 23 March 2022. Riders and drivers will be expected to be at this event for introduction.
The closing ceremony will be on 27 March, where prize giving will also be held.
Distances
Riders will cover approximately 1 000km on this trip over 3 days. On average we will cover approximately 250km each day. We have allowed enough time to enjoy your stay at each venue.
More info will be sent out closer to the time.
Racing or adventure
This is where our rallies are truly unique. If you are competitive, you can enter our racing category. You will be timed in the special stages and yet still be able to enjoy the adventure.
If you are not into racing, do not dispair, as the special stage sections are still included for you, but take them at your own pace. You make this adventure what you want it to be!
If you are racing, we suggest you take out a racing license to ensure your medical insurance is covered.
Back-Up Vehicle
Muddy Face Botswana has partnered with Motor Holdings Botswana to provide a full back-up crew for the Giants Adventure Rally, so those who do not have a back-up crew, no need for panic, your bags and gear will be taken to the next stop by the Motor Holdings crew.
If you have your own back-up crew they can join us and see you at the re-fuel points.
Medic Crew
Rescue One will be our medical crew and will assist in any injuries during the rally. Any emergencies will either be taken to the closest facility equipped to deal with the injury.
We do advise participants to ensure they have medical aid to cover any of these added expenses, as we will not be held liable for injuries.
Briefing
The initial briefing will be held in Gaborone on 23 March at 5pm. Thereafter there will be a daily briefing before the start of each day.
All riders and drivers need to be at every briefing to get the run-down of the day.
Fuel Carrier and Points
There will be a fuel stop every 50km that your back-up crew can meet you at. If you need fuel at every stop, bring along your jerry cans and we will load your fuel onto the fuel carriers the night before each day.
Water will also be available.
Special Stages
There will be a set of special stages throughout the rally. These can be raced by those who are competitive or they can be taken as a continuation of the adventure. You will only be timed in these sections in you enter as a competitor.
To enter as a competitor you will need to hold a racing license. A start time will be given to you for each stage and your race times added together to give you your overall finishing time.
Roadbook and GPS Categories
Choose between using a roadbook or a GPS as your navigational tool, or use both. If you would like to roadbook, you need to have your own navigational equipment. If you are in a car, it is not essential to have the navigational equipment, JUST THE KNOW-HOW!
Roadbooks and GPS maps will be provided at documentation on 23 March.
Tracking Units
Each participating vehicle will be given a tracking unit. This is to ensure all participants are safe and that no-one is lost or left behind.
The unit works on GSM and Satellite which means even in areas with no mobile signal we will still be able to find you.
Please note that these are only for participating vehicles NOT for back-up crews.
The Adventurer
