Racing or adventure
This is where our rallies are truly unique. If you are competitive, you can enter our racing category. You will be timed in the special stages and yet still be able to enjoy the adventure.
If you are not into racing, do not dispair, as the special stage sections are still included for you, but take them at your own pace. You make this adventure what you want it to be!
If you are racing, we suggest you take out a racing license to ensure your medical insurance is covered.
Fuel Carrier and Points
There will be a fuel stop every 50km run by Motul in Botswana. They will carry fuel to all the fuel stops and all you have to do is stop there, fill your bike and have a chat to them about your adventures. If you are riding a two-stroke please bring your own containers to do your pre-mix the night before.
Water will also be available at all the fuel stops.
Medic Crew
Rescue One will be our medical crew and will assist in any injuries during the rally. Any emergencies will either be taken to the closest facility equipped to deal with the injury.
We do advise participants to ensure they have medical aid to cover any of these added expenses, as we will not be held liable for injuries.
Briefing
The initial briefing will be held in Gaborone on 22 March at 5pm. Thereafter there will be a daily briefing before the start of each day.
All riders and drivers need to be at every briefing to get the run-down of the day.
Back-Up Vehicle
Muddy Face Botswana will provide a back-up crew, so those who do not have a back-up crew, no need for panic, your bags and gear will be taken to the next stop by our crew. Just make sure it is all packed and ready to go in the morning and we load it into our vehicles and get to the next stop.
Special Stages
There will be a set of special stages throughout the rally. These can be raced by those who are competitive or they can be taken as a continuation of the adventure. You will only be timed in these sections in you enter as a competitor.
To enter as a competitor you will need to hold a racing license. A start time will be given to you for each stage and your race times added together to give you your overall finishing time.
Roadbook and GPS Categories
Choose between using a roadbook or a GPS as your navigational tool, or use both. If you would like to roadbook, you need to have your own navigational equipment. If you are in a car, it is not essential to have the navigational equipment, JUST THE KNOW-HOW!
Roadbooks and GPS maps will be provided at documentation on 22 March.
Tracking Units
Each participating vehicle will be given a tracking unit. This is to ensure all participants are safe and that no-one is lost or left behind.
The unit works on GSM and Satellite which means even in areas with no mobile signal we will still be able to find you.
Please note that these are only for participating vehicles NOT for back-up crews.
The Adventurer
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!” ~ Hunter S. Thompson
