frequently asked questions

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO CROSS THE BORDER WITH MY BIKE OR VEHICLE?

When arriving at the border on the South African side, please ask for a TEP form for your bikes. This document will need to be shown on the Botswana Customs Office. It will also be needed so that you can take your machines back into South Africa without being charged VAT.

How many kilometers do we cover each day?

One day 1, the distance is approximately 250km. Day 2 is 110km and Day 3 is 180km. These may change depending on the rivers closer to the time.

do our back-up cars follow the route?

No, your back-up vehicles will follow along the main roads to each overnight stop. You do not need a 4×4, but it would be a good idea to have a vehicle that has enough ground clearance for travelling on a dirt road.

What is the programme of events?

An up-dated programme of events will be sent out closer to the time of the event.

Your adventure face! Please also bring your two stroke oil mix, toolboxes and any other equipment you feel you’ll need to maintain your bike or vehicle.

do the adventure riders/drivers follow the same route as the competitors?

Yes. Everyone will follow the same route. Competitors will be sent off first, so as to not get tangled up with competitors.

What are the rules?

Have fun! We are time conscious in order to make sure everyone gets home whilst it is light, so please make sure you are on the start line at the right time. NO ALCOHOL DURING THE RIDE/DRIVE.

How does the fuel work?

Our fuel carrier is Motul. They will go ahead to each fuel stop and they will refuel you at that stop. Each fuel stop is approximately 50km.

If you have a two stroke please bring your own jerry cans, so that we can pre-mix your fuel the night before each riding day.
