The vast nothingness
“For thousands of years people have gathered to celebrate the full presence of Earth’s closest heavenly body. In the heart of the Makgadikgadi Pans, when the night sky is ablaze with the light yet another impressive full moon, the tradition is set to continue.“
ONLY THIS TIME – THE AIM IS TO CATCH IT!
This is every dirt biker’s dream. An event where like-minded people gather to take part in common 2-wheel rituals. Where good spirit flows as free as the wind and the wine. And the echo of ancient bushman tales temporarily make way for the more broadly spoken language of bike talk.
If you are a dirt biker at heart, or simply appreciate the best of mother nature, then the Makgadikgadi Moonlight Adventure is an event that simply can’t be missed.
The event starts with camp setup on 23 July and runs all night and all day until lunchtime on the 25th July.
The site is only identified after we have been able to scout the pans for the best possible site. Our favourite site is just past Mokubilo.
Back flips, knack-knacks, heel clickers, whips, heart attacks; all in our Freestyle Motocross Show at sunset on both evenings in the great Makgadikgadi Pans. No better way to enjoy the sunset.
Tour up Kaitshe Escarpment and along part of the historical Makgadikgadi Heritage Trail. This is a rather technical route and requires a 4×4 if you are not going on a bike.
Local bands give you an awesome music festival vibe at the pans with a funky jam! There is truly nowhere else in the world that you can do this at either! Chill and jam around camp fires with your best mates and family.
Ever thought of beating an African drum and creating a cool, unforgettable beat in the middle of the Makgadikgadi Salts Pans. With the vast space echoing your tune back to you! This will be a first for our moonlight event.
When you have all the space in the world…you’ve got to fire dance to unforgettable jam of the drums and what better way to memorise you the guest; than with fire. These shows take place on both nights.
The kids absolutely love to build their own little tracks and this year they will have the opportunity to create, have fun and play with other like-minded kids on bikes
We know how much people love to get out into nature and enjoy what she has to offer. No better way than on a bicycle. There will be a short and a long loop and you will need a GPS to do the loops.
WHERE IN THE WORLD
Where in the world can you ride your dirt bike at night and still have a shadow close beside you in the middle of the night. The pans glowing a magical blue, we can tell you ~ there is no where else in the world, except the Makgadikgadi Moonlight Adventure!
